CHIEF EXECUTIVE PAYS HEARTFELT TRIBUTE TO LEICESTER CITY SUPREMO CONFIRMED DEAD IN HELICOPTER TRAGEDY

Ian Mattioli MBE, chief executive officer of Mattioli Woods, today paid tribute to a football club owner killed in a weekend helicopter crash.

Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has been confirmed as one of five victims of the tragedy, which happened near to Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Saturday night.

In an email to the company’s 600 staff today, Mr Mattioli – a lifelong Foxes supporter – said: “I’m so very saddened by the tragic events over the weekend

“Leicester City FC is at the heart of our community here in Leicester and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was simply someone who loved doing the kind of things he did.

“Football yes, but also helping so many of our local communities and helping so many of our different cultures - all of which make Leicester what it is today.

“His like are so needed to create spirit and ambition. Our condolences go to all the families affected by this so very sad event”.

Thai billionaire Mr Srivaddhanaprabha is believed to have died alongside two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner, Izabela Roza Lechowicz.

The crash happened as the helicopter left the stadium about an hour after Leicester City’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.
