From a very young age, I was aware of my parents’ finances, the bills, the pressure, that feeling of not quite having control. It’s not a unique situation, most families have mortgages and financial obligations, but it was less about the specifics and more about how that feeling shaped my view of money. I became convinced that financial independence was important, and that having it removes a lot of worry from your life. That’s what I help people achieve now. Taking control of your money, building something for your future, so you can do what you want, when you want, with who you want.
Motoring is a big part of my life. I drive a 1999 Oxford Green BMW Z3, which took me to the Nürburgring in Germany, around the track, and back home. It didn’t skip a beat. As well as driving and working on cars, I also run ZEDFest Northwest, a friendly car enthusiast event for BMW Z series owners. Modern cars are nice, but I’d rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
At home, I live with my partner and three rescue cats in North Manchester. The cats were passed over again and again at Oldham Cats Rescue because of their colour and the superstition that comes with it. We thought that was daft, so we took all three.
Before becoming a financial planner, I studied civil engineering and worked as a design engineer, but as time went on, it became obvious it wasn’t meant to be. Working through complex cases in a methodical way is still part of what I do now, but what was missing in engineering was the human element. Hearing about people’s personal experiences is one of the best parts of my day. Where they’ve come from, how they got to where they are, the experiences that have shaped how they see the world.
If you’ve never taken financial advice before, or you have assets built up and feel you’d benefit from a professional eye, I can help with pensions and investments, corporate financial planning, Inheritance Tax and trust planning, insurance advice and more.
Whether you’re a business owner, an employee, or already retired, if any of this resonates and you think you’d benefit from a conversation, get in touch.
