“No jargon, no pressure – just honest advice that starts where you are.”
I started working at 15. Not because I had to, but because I quickly understood what having my own income meant: freedom. I didn’t need to ask anyone for money. That early lesson – that financial independence shapes the choices you get to make – has never left me. It’s a big part of why I now help others build the same kind of confidence around their finances.
My route into financial advice wasn’t exactly conventional. I completed a bachelor’s degree in law and a master’s degree at De Montfort University, tried a spell in marketing, but neither felt right. Then I came across the Financial Adviser Academy at Mattioli Woods, and something clicked. I went on to earn my Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Monday is still my favourite day of the week.
What fuels that enthusiasm is the variety of people I work with and the difference good financial planning can make. As a financial adviser based in Leicester, I work with clients at every stage – whether you’re exploring pensions for the first time, planning for retirement, reviewing an existing investment portfolio, or wondering whether your overall financial position is as strong as it could be. Some clients arrive well-versed in the difference between different types of pensions. Others are hearing about them for the very first time. I adapt to both, because effective financial planning begins with genuinely understanding the person in front of you.
Growing up, I saw first-hand how a lack of financial knowledge limits your options and the decisions you’re able to make. That’s stayed with me. It means I bring genuine care to every conversation – whether that’s building a solid pension strategy, exploring investment opportunities, or working through Inheritance Tax planning. I know what it means when things aren’t set up as well as they could be.
One meeting from early in my career put everything into perspective. My mentor was working through a deeply sensitive situation – the client’s parent was in a care home, with Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) in place, and they were trying to make decisions that would shape the rest of her life. The care and weight of that conversation showed me what financial planning really means at its most important moments. It also showed me something about Mattioli Woods: no problem comes through the door without a solution.
My job isn’t to impress anyone with technical language. It’s to meet you where you are and give you the clarity to make good decisions with confidence. If you would like a straightforward conversation about your finances get in touch and let’s book a consultation.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me watching Leicester Tigers, following the NFL or Formula 1 – or occasionally all three in the same weekend.
