    Mortgage & Protection Adviser

“I always think people come to me with a financial ‘jigsaw puzzle’ – my job is to put the pieces together so they have a clear understanding of the way forward.”

My first job after college was at Leeds Building Society, where I encountered what was then called a home arranger service. I was 20 years old and knew immediately it was what I wanted to do. More than 25 years later, I’m still enjoying the job.

I’m a Mortgage & Protection Adviser with over 25 years’ experience in financial services, specialising in residential mortgages, buy-to-let, equity release, and financial protection planning. I hold qualifications in both mortgage advice and equity release. After my early career in building societies, I joined Kingswood (now part of the Mattioli Woods Group) and have built a substantial client bank – the majority of it through referrals.

My main strength is guiding clients through the mortgage process from start to finish in plain language with no jargon. Buying a property is stressful, and for many clients – especially first-time buyers – the combination of solicitors, surveys, lenders, and conveyancing jargon can feel overwhelming. I act as a guide throughout, stripping away the complexity so that clients always know what is happening and what comes next. I treat every client’s mortgage as if it were my own.

One case that stands out involved a lifetime mortgage I arranged for a woman who had reached a point where she was genuinely worried about being able to afford her day-to-day living. It was not the largest case I’ve worked on, but it was one of the most meaningful. When the mortgage completed and the financial pressure lifted, I could see the relief – the stress and anxiety was simply gone for the client.

I enjoy building long-term relationships and take pride in ensuring my advice is tailored to each client’s individual circumstances, priorities, and future needs. Over time, many of those client relationships have evolved into genuine friendships. I’ve accompanied clients from their first purchase as young buyers through to starting families and, more recently, into retirement. I take a friendly and approachable style to every interaction and am known for being straightforward, responsive, and genuinely invested in each client’s outcome.

Outside of work, I’m a self-described long-suffering West Ham fan. I start most weekend mornings at the gym, which helps and enjoy spending time with my family.
