“Twenty-five years at the same firm – must be doing something right.”
I’m coming up to 25 years at Mattioli Woods.
I got into financial advice almost by accident in 2001. I was working at an insurance company, and someone dropped out of a set of exams. A colleague and I agreed to take the exams to fill the slots. I passed the exams and it was only afterwards that I found out that I was then qualified to be a financial adviser. Having checked the newspaper, I found a local firm was advertising for a trainee financial adviser. I started the role a few weeks later and have been advising ever since. The firm has been acquired twice and is now part of Mattioli Woods.
What I like about the work is that no two clients are the same – different circumstances, different goals, different views on things. My role is to help people achieve what they want without having to stress about their finances along the way.
I have advised many of my clients for over 20 years and I have a real sense of pride that they trust me implicitly to help them and their families.
I advise clients in all areas of financial planning, but my main specialism is protection. In recent times that has centered around estate planning, but I often advise business owners on how to protect the business, the shareholders and key members of staff.
I’m 47, married with two children, a keen golfer (often with clients), and a motorsport fan from back when I used to race my own cars.
