“I treat every client the way I’d want someone to treat my own mum and dad.”
I grew up on a farm in Lancashire – and yes, there is a family story about my dad taking me out to work with him and forgetting me. I was found fast asleep in a cabbage field a few hours later. Whether it’s left any lasting effects, I’ll let you decide.
Alongside the farm, there was music. My mum is a professionally trained opera singer and she made sure my sister and I were raised on it too. Piano lessons, singing lessons, annual shows in front of packed rooms. From a young age, I learned that being on a stage isn’t something to fear – it’s where you connect with people. That instinct shapes everything about how I work with clients today.
It’s not the only thing that shaped me. At 14, I faced a serious health scare that could have required brain surgery. The doctors told me there was a 34% chance of a stroke on the operating table. After assessing the pros and cons, I chose not to have the operation, and it made me grow up quickly. It gave me a clarity about what actually matters and an absolute intolerance for wasted time. When I sit with a client, I’m completely present, because I know how quickly things can change.
I’ve been a qualified financial adviser since 2017, earning my qualifications in just ten months while working full time. I cut my teeth specialising in NHS pension scheme advice at Chase de Vere, presenting to groups of up to 1,200 people. That experience – breaking down genuinely complex pension structures for rooms full of healthcare professionals – taught me how to make the complicated feel manageable. It’s a skill I bring to every client meeting now, whether that’s a one-to-one or a full corporate audience.
I joined Mattioli Woods through the employee benefits side of the business, and today I work across both wealth management and corporate financial planning. My clients range from individuals building their retirement plans to businesses looking after the financial wellbeing of their people. What I enjoy most is the moment when someone who’s been quietly anxious about their finances finally understands their position. I’ve had clients break down in tears when I’ve been able to tell them they don’t need to worry about retiring. That moment of relief is what drives me.
I’m a detail person. Questions get answered promptly, issues get dealt with clearly, and if something isn’t working, I’ll tell you honestly and we’ll find a solution together.
Outside of work, I live in Manchester with my partner David and our two whippets, Marlow and Parker. I’m getting married in Malta this October, which I’m thoroughly looking forward to. I still play the piano, I’m a Lego enthusiast with a Porsche 911 and a Ford GT to prove it. Next on the cards is to slowly work through restoring a classic MG, being the car fanatic that I am. The showmanship my mum gave me, the practicality my dad modelled, and the perspective that came from facing real adversity young – all of it informs how I show up for the people who trust me with their financial lives.
If you’re looking for an adviser who will explain things clearly, respond quickly, and genuinely care about getting it right for you, I’d love to have that conversation.
