“I enjoy an adventure; now I can aide your journey to a new home.”

Most people don’t arrive at a mortgage meeting feeling calm. They arrive feeling overwhelmed, unsure of the process, and quietly terrified of making a mistake. I know that feeling – and I know how to help.

Before I was a mortgage adviser, I spent nearly five years teaching English in China. I’d gone there straight after finishing my law degree at Teesside University, looking for adventure and the chance to travel across Asia. What I didn’t expect was how much it would change me. I’d been quite shy growing up. Standing in front of rooms full of strangers, day after day, taught me to communicate clearly, stay patient, and build trust quickly – skills I rely on every single day in this role.

I joined Kingswood – now Mattioli Woods – in August 2022 as a client liaison in the mortgage and protection team, and spent that time getting under the skin of how the process really works before qualifying as an adviser. I’ve since passed all four of my professional exams – including the ER1 for equity release and lifetime mortgages. That means if you’re approaching retirement and worried a standard mortgage is no longer available to you, I can help find a way forward that protects your home and your options.

First-time buyers are where I feel most at home. They come in nervous, sometimes not knowing where to start, and I walk them through every step – from the Decision in Principle right through to the keys in the door. I give them my direct contact details and encourage them to reach out whenever they need reassurance. Buying your first home should feel exciting, not frightening, and my job is to make sure it does.

Mortgages aren’t just about rates and paperwork, they’re about people making one of the most important decisions of their lives. I believe trust is earned through consistency, clear communication, and being genuinely approachable – the same things that made a shy girl stand up in front of a class in Shanghai and find her voice.

Outside work, I’m training for the Rome Half Marathon (one of several half marathons I’ve completed), and still making my way around the world when I can. I’m also learning to cook pasta, which is proving rather more challenging than any exam I’ve sat.
