Mattioli Woods once again partakes in the ‘Tour de Mattioli Woods’ for Breast Cancer Now!
Following the success of last year’s ‘Tour de MW’, this year a team of cyclists from Mattioli Woods, including Chief Executive Ian Mattioli, his wife and one of their daughters, have ridden a new route between three different MW offices, covering 186 miles over two days. The challenge took the team from Buckingham to Preston via Leicester, where they finished in record time at 4pm on Friday 2 September!
Whilst one team rode the physical route, staff based at all of the Mattioli Woods offices took to static exercise bikes to ride the distance in relay teams. The first bike (all named after an Olympian) to reach 200 miles was the winner. Congratulations to Preston on bike, ‘Ben Ainslie’, as they completed their 200-mile ‘ride’ at 10:40am on Friday 2 September! Closest rival, Leicester’s Blue Wing on bike, ‘Rebecca Adlington’, finished at 2:10pm.
Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity and is dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. It focuses its energies on four critical areas: prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatments and secondary breast cancer. By tackling the disease in the labs, on the political agenda, through public health information and with the health service, it believes it can transform the outlook for everyone affected by breast cancer. This year, over 50,000 women will be told they have the disease and over 1,000 women in the UK will have their lives cut short by breast cancer every month.
The Mattioli Woods Group is delighted to reveal that this year’s Tour raised £2,355 for the charity. Adding this to offline fundraising and the amount being matched by Mattioli Woods, we can present Breast Cancer Now with a total of £5,000!
