Mattioli Woods employee Radvile Ratkute is one of our Senior Client Relationship Managers. While Radvile spends her days looking after Mattioli Woods clients, her partner Ian Canlas is caring for patients as deputy ward matron at the Evington Centre, part of Leicester General Hospital.
The Evington Centre has two dementia wards for the elderly: Coleman Ward and Gwendolen Ward. Gwendolen Ward has now been dedicated to those patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Wards like Gwendolen who are caring for elderly patients with cognitive impairment are sometimes last on the list when it comes to supplies of PPE.
When Radvile approached the Mattioli Foundation she made it clear that her partner Ian and his team are coping with supplies of gloves, aprons and surgical masks; however, there was an immediate need for hand gel, full gowns, scrubs and face shields.
Ian Mattioli was quick to respond, ‘My dad spent time in his last few months at Leicester General Hospital following his stroke, so I know first-hand how committed the team is there’.
Within 48 hours The Mattioli Foundation had delivered hand gel and scrubs to the centre.
On receipt of the items Ian said, ‘A special thank you to the Mattioli Foundation and the team at Mattioli Woods for supporting the Evington Centre providing us with hand sanitiser and scrubs. The entire team appreciates your support, kindness and understanding. This gesture reminded us all that we are valued and cared for by people outside of the NHS. You are a massive inspiration to us all’.
