Fall back in love with your career: Mattioli Woods opens applications for its Financial Adviser Academy

    Apply now
    Heart

Mattioli Woods, a leading UK wealth management and employee benefits firm, has today opened applications for its Financial Adviser Academy. Welcoming second-careerists and designed to provide a clear, structured path from trainee to confident adviser, the programme offers a fully-salaried role from day one, genuine one-to-one mentorship from senior advisers, real client exposure, and fully-funded professional qualifications.

The programme offers one of the clearest and most credible routes into the profession, giving ambitious individuals the ability to seamlessly transition into a role in financial planning. Each year, the Academy admits around 30 individuals, ensuring a highly-selective intake and the depth of support required to develop exceptional advisers.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ experience in a client-facing role, a genuine interest in helping people make better decisions, and the ambition to build a long-term career in financial planning. We actively welcome second-career candidates from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including those outside financial services, where strong judgement, empathy and personal credibility have already been developed. The Academy is delivered as a national programme, with the current intake recruiting advisers to be based in Leicester, Stockport and Belfast.

Spanning 21 months, the programme is split into four terms, with participants progressing from knowledge to practical experience and judgement, and finally independence.

    The four-term journey

    Term 1 – Professional foundations (3.5 months)

    • Complete RO2-RO5
    • Build strong technical knowledge, regulatory confidence and the professional standards expected of a trusted adviser.

Term 2 – Training to advise (2.5 months)

    • Complete RO6
    • Learn the Mattioli Woods way: how great advice is prepared, delivered and sustained.

    Term 3 – Mentored practice (6 months)

    • Work alongside a senior adviser and gradually take on more responsibility, developing real judgement and a clear understanding of what excellent advice looks like in practice.
    • Following successful completion of internal assessments, you formally step into your role as a Mattioli Woods adviser.

Term 4 – Early career support (9 months)

    • Receive ongoing one-to-one coaching, with regular, structured time to reflect on your performance, identify areas for improvement and deliberately sharpen your craft.
    • With experienced support alongside you, you’ll refine your judgement, meeting quality and commercial awareness – building the confidence, consistency and self-awareness required for a sustainable, high-quality advisory career.

Raila Bawani, Senior Talent and Resource Partner, added: “We recognise that it takes time, confidence and trust to commit to a new career path. The Mattioli Woods Financial Adviser Academy has been designed to ensure participants feel truly supported throughout their training journey and beyond – with a comprehensive benefits package, supporting both wellbeing and long-term security. This allows them to focus on settling into, and excelling in, their new role.”
