I joined Mattioli Woods in 2005 as a graduate, having studied investments and financial services at Sheffield Hallam University. The world of work was a long way from the classroom, and I was fortunate enough to be mentored by Bob Woods – one of the founders of the business – during those early years. The lessons he taught me about how to behave with clients, how to listen properly, and how to truly understand what someone needs rather than what you assume they need, are ones I still use every day.

I became a qualified financial adviser in 2009 and have spent the years since building deep, long-term client relationships – predominantly through referrals. I look after about 150 clients and mentor a team of advisers as a Director, helping them develop the same foundation of skills that Bob gave me.

My approach is straightforward: I listen before I speak. In that first meeting, my job is to understand what you actually want and need, because without that, any advice I give could miss the mark entirely. Whether you’re a business owner, an executive, or someone who’s simply built up wealth over time and wants it to work harder for you, I focus on understanding your full picture first. That includes investment planning, pension planning, and Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning – areas that can feel complex but rarely are once someone explains them clearly.

Outside of work, sport has always been central to my life – Taekwondo, kickboxing, and boxing across three decades as well as following my local football team. In each discipline, the lesson is the same: the work you put in quietly, over time, is what delivers results when it matters. Financial planning is no different. I’m proud to say my focus is long-term – I intend to retire at Mattioli Woods, and I’m as committed to my clients’ journeys as I am to my own.
