The event – on Wednesday, November 8 – is being hosted by Mattioli Woods plc at Aberdeen’s The Village Hotel in Kingswells.

As a Cabinet Minister in David Cameron’s coalition government, Sir Steve led major changes to the pensions system.

These included the 'triple-lock', which guarantees that the state pension rises each year by the highest of inflation, earnings or 2.5%.

In Autumn 2012 he oversaw the introduction of auto enrolment for large businesses in the UK, which was then rolled out to smaller companies over the next four years.

Sir Steve – knighted in the 2017 New Year’s Honours List – is now a British pensions commentator.

He will be joined on the podium by Dr Tharaka Gunarathne, a motivational speaker who graduated from the University of Aberdeen Medical School.

The forum will also feature technical insights from specialist speakers and networking breakout sessions. It runs from 9am to 1pm, with lunch included.

Wendy Atkinson, business development manager for wealth management and employee benefits specialist Mattioli Woods, said: “Giving employers a rare awareness of future Government retirement policy that will impact on all their companies - not to mention a range of other key business insights – we believe this is a ‘must attend’ event for all our valued clients and guests.”
