When Bob co-founded Mattioli Woods in 1991 with Ian Mattioli, he already had over 15 years’ experience in pension consultancy and wealth management. The company subsequently listed on AIM in 2005 when he became the Group’s Executive Chairman and subsequently Chair of the Group’s Investment Committee. Although Bob stepped down as Executive Chairman at the Group’s AGM on 25 October 2016, he still continues to provide strategic input in a full-time, executive role while continuing to advise many long-standing clients. As well as his involvement in the development of Mattioli Woods’ strategy and investment ethos, Bob was proud and privileged to have won the London Stock Exchange AIM Entrepreneur of the Year award jointly with Ian Mattioli in 2006, and awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award co-sponsored by the Leicester Mercury and the University of Leicester. Bob was also greatly honoured with an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s honours lists as well as an Honorary Degree (Doctor of Laws) by the University of Leicester. Outside Mattioli Woods, Bob enjoys spending time with family, keeping fit and reading. Stepping off the Board has also enabled him to provide voluntary business mentoring to young entrepreneurs and continue supporting the University of Leicester’s Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability.
