With less than a week to go, over 1,000 competitors have already signed up to take part in this year’s event on Tuesday June 11, which kicks off at 7.15 pm.

The race – hosted by the Rothley and Soar Valley Lions – is in its 34th year and has raised vital funds for local charities.

Wealth manager Mattioli Woods plc is again headline sponsor.

Chief executive officer Ian Mattioli MBE says: “The Rothley 10k race is on course to increase the record set last year of 1,055 runners, which is absolutely remarkable.

Over the years, the event has raised more than £300,000 for local charities such as LOROS, Rainbows and many more which is something we are very proud to be associated with. Good luck with the training, everyone!”

This year the event has attracted a number of supporting sponsors including Fleet Auction Group, Marcol, Champions, Concannon Connection, Commerzbank, Juice Creative Design, Fluid, S J Event Consultancy, Three Sixty Services LLP, Flowers Associates, Dale Carnegie, Idex Consulting, Workday, Societe Generale and IDAD.

Rainbows, LOROS, Air Ambulance Service, Age UK, Eye Camps, Vista and RNLI are among those to have benefitted from the fund-raiser over the last three decades.

Last year’s event was won by teacher Michael Coltherd who proved a class above as he swept to victory in a winning time of 32.59.

Competitors can still register for this year’s race online at https://rothley10k.com/
and those entering will also receive a free goody bag and technical running T-shirt courtesy of the sponsors.
