As a proud sponsor, we celebrated with the best of the city’s vibrant Asian culture, recognising the efforts and skill that go into making Leicester one of the UK’s most prized curry destinations.
Now in its third year, the awards – compered by award-winning television presenter, journalist and newsreader Sameena Ali-Khan – consist of six categories: Restaurant of the Year, Best Vegetarian Restaurant, Best Takeaway, Best Pub Restaurant, Best New Restaurant and Best Fine Dining Restaurant, with the public voting for their favourites between December 1 2018 and February 28 2019.
In the category Mattioli Woods sponsored – Best Fine Dining Restaurant – the Welford Road-based Spice Bazaar came out on top, beating fellow nominees Lilu, Aspects Enderby, Cinnamon Lounge and Everest Dine.
Wealth Management Consultants Amal Mashru and Nimmy Uppal presented the award to Spice Bazaar on the night. Amal said: “The Curry Awards have had a big impact on the Leicester community; it’s a great way for people to meet local businesses and show the city that we care for and support local success.”
Marketing Director Mark Slaviero said: “The Curry Awards aren’t just about food – they’re also about the people they celebrate, and the local Leicester businesses they work for. That’s why – as a proud Leicester-based business ourselves – Mattioli Woods is honoured to have sponsored the event. It brings together the entire community in a fantastic, positive way. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners on the night!”
