Cairngorm Challenge - Sponsorship

Cairngorm Challenge – update as of 22 March 2024

As you are aware, Iain McKenzie had agreed to take part in the Cairngorm Challenge to raise funds and awareness for British Heart Foundation.

Unfortunately, Iain has sustained a significant injury and on medical advice, he is unable to proceed with the Cairngorm Challenge, which would have seen him run 165.7 miles through the Cairngorms National Park for six consecutive days from 16 April 2024.
This is disappointing for all involved as this has been an event that has been two years in the making, and Iain has put in many hours of endurance training to this point.

As soon as we receive further information from medical professionals on whether we can postpone this challenge to a future date or provide alternative options for fundraising we will update this page.

Thank you for your interest and support to date. Should you have any questions about this please contact

Our sponsorship packages with further details of what the funding will support can be found below.

Cairngorm Challenge

Since June 2022, Mattioli Woods has partnered with the British Heart Foundation – a charity nominated by our staff. Like us, you probably know someone who has experienced firsthand the life-altering effect heart conditions can have, which is why spotting things early can make a huge difference. It is also why funding research projects is so vital in this fight to keep hearts going.

Iain McKenzie

On 16 April 2024, in the vast expanse of the Cairngorms National Park – the largest, most northerly National Park in the UK - Iain McKenzie, our Chief Operating Officer, will embark on a run over six consecutive days, taking on the 165.7 miles of its perimeter. It’s no easy feat, but one that will generate attention from local and hopefully national news. This challenge has never been done before and will raise much needed awareness and funding for the British Heart Foundation.

Mountain top

Our aim is to raise funds that will support two specific research projects for early indicators of heart issues found within the eyes and gums.
